In Defense of Independent Kyrgyzstan
Dear Mr. Vladimir Zhirinovsky,
On May 14, 2010 you stated that "Kyrgyzstan cannot solve its problems.” Furthermore, you continued, because Kyrgyzstan has "no economy and no security" Kyrgyzstan should join Russia as its ninth federal district. We appreciate your concern for Kyrgyzstan, but dare not agree with your arguments because:
• Kyrgyzstan is an independent country and only citizens of this country can decide its future
• Kyrgyzstan – is the most politically and economically free country in the region, of which no other state in Central Asia and Russia can boast
• Kyrgyzstan is much safer than Russian media allege. Moreover, representatives of non-Russian nationalities, especially Central Asians, are much safer in Kyrgyzstan than Russia
• Kyrgyzstan, unlike Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan commodity based economies; therefore, you can hardly boast of a strong economy.
Currently, Kyrgyzstan's economy is suffering fall from the protectionist economic policy of Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. If Russia intends to help Kyrgyzstan, then ease conditions for Kyrgyzstan’s migrants to become legal in Russia and facilitate the entry of Kyrgyz goods on the Russian market. Also, help Kyrgyzstan lift the economic ‘iron curtain’ imposed by Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Please keep in mind that Kyrgyzstan’s problems can only be resolved from inside than outside. External control will benefit neither Kyrgyzstan nor Russia.
