Institutional Profile - CAFMI
The Central Asian Free Market Institute (CAFMI) is an independent, non-profit, think-tank founded on April 6, 2009, with offices in Bishkek and Dushanbe and activities spanning Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
CAFMI experts to develop into Central Asia’s major advocacy and research hub for public policy issues.

MISSION
CAFMI promotes ideas of freedom, rule of law, market economy and minimal government through research, education and advocacy.
RESEARCH
CAFMI’s research work is dedicated to providing clear, thoughtful, and independent analysis on vital public policy issues. It carries out vigorous research on broad range of economical, political and social problems to present citizens with incisive and understandable analysis. Aside from regular activities, CAFMI affects public debate by writing articles and giving interviews across all mass media: newspapers, radio, TV, web-sites and new media.
PUBLIC EDUCATION
CAFMI engages in public education via organizing camps, expert saloons, seminars, and conferences on vital economic, political and social issues. Currently, we are developing a platform for e-learning. Public education activities involve all sectors of society. It also conducts public campaigns such as the abolition of propiska.
NETWORKING
In carrying out its mission, CAFMI works side by side with other like-minded organizations locally and internationally. Among local partners is the Ministry of Economic Regulation of the Kyrgyz Republic, universities (i.e. AUCA, IUK, KRSU), Bishkek Business Club (BBC), International Business Council (IBC), “Project of the Future” think tank, Social Research Center (SRC AUCA), and Liberal Youth Club.
CAFMI works with international donors and organizations such as: Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Fraser Institute, International Policy Network, Economic Freedom Network Asia, Property Rights Alliance, Atlas Economic Research Foundation, RTLC, USAID, OSCE, Soros Foundation and the International Republican Institute.
